About Cami

I have always been a creator, in one way or another. Since I was a child, I have turned to words to tell my stories, writing poems and short essays mostly for my own benefit. Then as a young mother, I turned to photography to help tell my stories, breaking rules from the beginning, as I tried to find my own visual voice. The catalyst for truly starting my life as an artist was a roll of film. In 2018, I picked up a film camera for the first time since I was a teenager. After only a few rolls, I began to immerse myself in the slower, unpredictable, and incredible world of experimental analog photography. Soon I was adding mixed media elements of instant film, collage, and cyanotype. Most importantly, I brought my voice back, as I began to combine poetry and short essays with those visual stories again.

Teaching has been such a joy. I love helping others find their voice, become more courageous, and lean in to a more creative lifestyle. Over the last ten years of teaching, I have loved being inspired by the artists I have worked with, and look forward to continuing that collaboration.
